Captain: Fabien Roché Nationality: British/French
Number of Crew 12
Crew Profiles: Captain - Fabien Roché (British/French, 42)
Fabien started his ‘career’ at sea at the tender age of 3. Born to a French father and Scottish mother, most of his weekends and holidays were spent sailing along Brittany, the Channel Islands and South Coast of the U.K. By the time he turned 7, Fabien lived on a sailboat, studying by correspondence courses. The world’s oceans became his playground: first the Mediterranean aged 7 and 8, and then the Atlantic aged 10, followed by the whole Caribbean from Venezuela to the Virgin Islands for 6 years. Upon completing his A-levels in the U.K., Fabien passed his first Commercial Maritime license in 1987, thereupon sailing for a humanitarian organisation, in charge of navigation, electrics and engineering. Having landed at Réunion Island, Fabien skippered his first charter yacht and consecutively worked on charter and private yachts in the Mediterranean and Caribbean until the early 1990’s. He then picked up his studies again in view of obtaining his Unlimited Master’s license, which he did in 1996.
Fabien built most of his maritime experience on yachts and cruise ships (sail & power), cruising the world in all kinds of places from Antarctica to the Arctic, and from China to all the way up the Amazon.
Fabien’s hobbies include photography, travelling, geography, cartography, diving, sailing, hiking, skiing, swimming, rock climbing, IT, vintage wines, reading, music, cinema and languages...
