Crew Details
Captain: George Maleas
George was born in Greece in 1980. His heart has always been with the sea, so he decided early on to become a skipper and captain for sailing and power yachts. Over the years he has worked in many different companies for different charter yachts and private yachts, first as a deckhand and then as captain, building his career, gaining sailing experience, and forming his strong and reliable personality he is today. He has all the necessary diplomas, safety, and first aid certificates to handle big yachts till 200GT. He has explored the Mediterranean extensively on deliveries and is covering 3000 to 5000 NM in average per year. A sailor inside and out, he is energetic and easy-going with his guests but responsible and a good team player when it comes to his team on board. He has great communication skills and speaks Greek, English, and some basic Italian.

Chef: Alexander Karpis
Alexander was born and raised in gorgeous Cyprus. As his father is a Captain, he has been sailing for most of his life around Cyprus and through the Greek Islands. Alexander feels a deep connection with the sea and never strays too far from the water. He believes in the saying, ‘do what you love and you never work a day in your life’ – he loves sailing and food… making life on Serenissima perfect!

After completing his studies in Biological Sciences at the University of Liverpool, he took the route of becoming a chef. As he has always loved to eat, it was the perfect career decision! He studied through his travels and working in various restaurants where he honed his craft being trained by gifted chefs. The most outstanding was Matthew Zappoli, the head chef in NYY steakhouse, who gave him a solid foundation of knowledge that drastically increased his love and passion for cooking. After that, everything just naturally evolved.

In his free time, he dedicates himself to music and art. His main instrument is the violin, but also plays the guitar, sings, and will pick up most musical instruments. And eating - he loves Pastichio! Tacos - very spicy! And, enjoying a beautiful Ribeye Steak sauteed in herbs and butter. Alexander is excited for this summer season and showing guests the beauty of the islands while spoiling them with incredible culinary delights.

Stewardess: Vicky Piperopolou
Vicky, born in 1992, grew up in Thessaloniki. After graduation, she began work in hospitality. A friend recruited her as crew for a sailboat and she didn’t hesitate… her adventurous nature was quick to jump on board. Sailing for fun quickly became a career as she was able to combine work with her new passion for the water.

She has spent the last several years sailing the gorgeous Cyclades while working as a deckhand and stewardess on various yachts. Joining the crew of Serenissima, she is excited for the season and to show guests the perfect charter and beautiful Greece.

Along with sailing and spending time on the water, she loves to read, hike, bike, and travel. Her energetic and friendly nature will welcome you and she is eager to introduce guests to the wonders of the Mediterranean waters.
